Two Higher Gear customers were featured in recent stories, and they both continue to make progress for their causes. Gabi Greenberg and Theresa Waldbuesser have unique stories and both continue driving forward, on their bikes.
Late last month, Gabi made it into Chicago on her cross-country journey to raise money and awareness for the prevention of AIDS. Gabi is riding with a group of seventeen from San Francisco, CA, to Boston, MA. She was happy to be back in sweet home Chicago.
She proudly visited our Higher Gear, Highland Park, IL, location with her Specialized Roubaix. Gabi shared with us the stories of her trip, provided updates on her progress and got her bike ready for the last half of the trip. Delfino and Brian gave it the white glove treatment for the last leg of her impressive journey.
While she was in Chicago, Gabi was featured on the local news and even took time out to enjoy a Cubs game.
Speaking of the Cubs, our second rider, Theresa, continues to prepare for her second Wrigley Field Road Tour. In addition to the mileage she’s putting in every day, Theresa is riding with Higher Gear’s Tuesday Morning Women’s Ride and the Saturday Morning Training Rides.
Theresa had a chance to share her cycling story last week on national news. She joined Higher Gear co-owner, Todd Ricketts, on the WGN Midday News and spoke about the health benefits she has enjoyed from cycling as well as the great work of Cubs Charities and World Bicycle Relief. The Wrigley Field Road Tour was all the focus and it appears that Theresa and Todd were even able to convince Dina Bair to join us for the Wrigley Field Road Tour this year.
