There are many cycling events to choose from this summer – from charity races to multi-day rides. But there is one cycling event Higher Gear friends and fans won’t want to miss… Announcing…
Gran Fondo Hundo
presented by Higher Gear
Saturday, August 2nd, you and 99 of your friends will ride one-way from Higher Gear Wilmette to the Kane County Cougars’ stadium, the Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, in Geneva, IL.
Along the metric century route, you’ll have two designated rest stops stocked with everything you need to pedal the 62 miles to the ballpark, not to mention the company of a fabulous group of fellow cyclists and baseball enthusiasts. You might choose to ride in your custom event jersey.
Upon arrival in Geneva, hot showers will be provided. You’ll clean up and change into your event t-shirt and the clothes that you dropped off in the morning to be transported for you. Refreshed, you’ll enjoy a hearty and well-deserved BBQ buffet.
Make sure you pack a pair of cowboy boots and a faded pair of blue jeans for after the ride because it’s Country Music Night at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. The evening’s festivities kick off at 4:00pm with a pre-game concert with Midwest’s premier country cover band, Suburban Cowboys. There will be more special events throughout the evening to celebrate country music and to “lasso you” into having a great time at the ballpark.
Oh, and did we mention? Baseball. The Kane County Cougars face off against the Quad Cities RiverBandits for a fun evening of Minor League baseball in the ‘burbs.
Following the the game, you’ll enjoy country music themed fireworks before being transported back to Wilmette, where you will be rejoined with your bicycle.

About the Kane County Cougars:
It was 1991 and the baseball season was approaching when the Kane County Cougars shocked the Minor League community by moving their franchise from quiet Wausau, Wisconsin into the shadow of two Major League teams in Chicago. Could a struggling franchise revive itself by operating within shouting distance of the Cubs and White Sox? Would Cougar fans display support in this new environment? Throughout the years, the statistics have spoken a truth, which reveals a team revived, with their loyal fans ever present.
As an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, the Cougars continue to set a standard of excellence, both on and off the field. In 2013, the Cougars welcomed their 10 millionth fan in franchise history, becoming the first Class-A team in Minor League Baseball history to reach the historic figure. As the only team with a Major League affiliation in Chicagoland, the Cougars provide the best in affordable and family-friendly fun throughout Chicagoland.
Did you know that the Cougars have sent more than 100 players to the Major Leagues? The list includes Rookie of the Year award winners, World Series champions and even Olympians! See the future stars of the big leagues today!
About Suburban Cowboys:
Suburban Cowboys is the Midwest’s number one country cover band, full of energy and excitement. The band features a talented lineup of an incredible five-part vocal harmony, the Midwest’s finest young fiddle player, ripping guitars and a killer rhythm section!
Suburban Cowboys has been on the scene since 2010 and have become regulars at Country Thunder in Twin Lakes, WI, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar in Chicago and Minneapolis and have performed at Joe’s on Weed Street.
