The iconic Leadville Trail 100 is the ultimate proving ground for XC racers, bikes, and equipment.
U.S. National Champion Todd Wells, aboard his SWAT-equipped S-Works Epic, bested the field of over 1,200 riders for the coveted Leadville title. Teammate and multi-time World Champion, Christoph Sauser, raced his S-Works Stumpjumper hardtail to second place on the day, just 18 seconds behind Wells.
When covering over 100 miles at race pace, smooth-rolling aerodynamic efficiency is the key to shaving valuable minutes from the competition. Both Wells and Sauser opted for the super-lightweight, yet incredibly strong, carbon Roval Control SL wheelset, and fast-rolling Renegade tires. To give themselves the ultimate aerodynamic advantage, the duo elected to run the wind-tunnel-proven Evade helmet and all-new XC race-specific skin suit.
Congratulations to US National Marathon and XC champion Todd Wells on winning the Leadville 100! Check out Todd’s smooth ride to victory and post-win interview here, captured by Specialized:
