The Glencoe Grand Prix is certainly one of the best one-day races in the U.S. and the 2014 edition is stacking up to be its best year yet! In addition to offering awesome pro-cycling spectating right here in the North Shore, the Glencoe Grand Prix combines a great day of racing with food, live music, games for the kids, a beer tent and the traditional noon kid races.
Now in its eighth year, the Glencoe Grand Prix has even more to offer. It is host to the IL State Criterium Championship. It is also the seventh stop on the National Criterium Calendar (NCC) and the USA CRITS calendar, bringing riders from all over the U.S. to compete for overall individual and team titles. The Glencoe Grand Prix is also now part of the new Pavé Liga series.
If you’ve never spectated a bike race before, they offer great family-friendly entertainment. Pack up the kids and come out for the day. Don’t forget to bring your Higher Gear cowbell! The after party will feature refreshments from Goose Island, several food trucks and a repeat performance by 16 Candles. This is not to be missed!
After watching great cycling all day, it is time to break out the air guitars and get busy! The after party – sponsored this year by Chase Bank – begins at 8:30 pm in Village Court Parking lot. Bring your friends and enjoy the award winning musical stylings of the Chicago 80’s cover band 16 Candles! This is the same band as last year! Back by POPULAR DEMAND, 16 Candles will put the exclamation point on this great Glencoe weekend!
Enjoy three hours of the best music has to offer, 80’s music! While rocking out to 16 Candles, take a quick break to enjoy the 312 Beer Garden, or a glass of wine provided by the Bottle Shop in Wilmette. The party ends at 11:00 pm, so don’t delay! Grab your Member’s Only Jacket and, ladies, tease your wall of bangs with Aqua Net and head out to the best night Glencoe has to offer!
