Whether you are new to the sport or need to prepare for your next race, Higher Gear is here to serve you and share your passion for cycling.

Higher Gear began in 1993 and has always reached out to both families and enthusiasts. On the weekends, morning rides are available from each store location and are organized to appeal to riders of all speeds and experience levels. The nearly 1600-square-foot shop is open at Plaza del Lago, 1515 Sheridan Road in Wilmette, Illinois, and features some of the most historic brands in cycling including Seven, Specialized, SCOTT, and Bianchi. The Wilmette location joins the other store at 1898 North Sheridan Road in Highland Park, Illinois. These two locations serve to book end a ten-mile stretch of road that is a favorite for most cyclists in the Chicagoland area.

We strive to make visiting Higher Gear an enjoyable experience. There is no air of superiority among our sales associates. We don’t care what your cycling credentials are — we’re just interested in finding the right bike for you and your family.
